Ophthalmic check up

The initial ophthalmological check-up is the first step for effective prevention, which includes:

• History taking: Recording of diseases, allergies, medication intake, history of operations.
• Visual acuity test: Diagnosis of refractive disorders (myopia, hypermetropia, astigmatism, presbyopia).
• Intraocular pressure check
• Examination of the slit lamp: With a special microscope, we examine the front hemisphere of the eye, to detect changes in the eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea and lens (cataract).
• Fundoscopy: With the use of mydriatic drops, the area of the back of the eye (retina, optic nerve and macula) is checked.
