Astigmatism is usually present from an early age and may increase as the child grows. Myopia usually affects school-aged children and increases as the child grows.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What is ophthalmologically important is that in children under 6 years old, high degrees of these abnormalities, and especially if there is a difference between the two eyes (anisometropia), leads to amblyopia.
