Retinal detachment (RA) is the separation of the sensory retina from the pigment epithelium. Incidence is about 1 in 10,000 people each year, rising to 3% in people who have undergone cataract surgery Although it does not cause pain, it causes a blurring of vision that is simulated by a gray veil moving across the optic field. Retinal detachment is treatable, but must be treated immediately or it can cause vision loss and, in the worst case, blindness.<\/p>\n
