Strabismus occurs when the eyes cannot focus the axes of vision on the same point at the same time and are observed:
- Eyes that don’t move together.
- Asymmetrical glare spots in each eye.
- Head tilt to one side.
- Alteration with only one eye.
Causes of Strabismus
The causes of strabismus can be:
- Hereditary
- Heperopia
- A serious head injury
- Systemic diseases (thyroid, myasthenia, etc.)
- Paralytic strabismus, etc.
Diagnosis of Strabismus
Strabismus is divided into several subcategories and the deviation can be towards: internal, external, upward or cyclostrophic strabismus. The diagnosis is usually made through an ophthalmological examination carried out by a specialist ophthalmologist. The doctor will identify the exact cause.
